    Is it correct to assume that Omega provided movements to various markets that may have fitted them in chrome-plated cases. I don't think I've encountered one with such a case before.

    No it is not.

    I don't think that is the original case, although the case back looks to be solid steel and could be a genuine Omega replacement. Tissot (Omega's sister company at that time) used chrome plated cases on many of their watches.
