Greetings OF. A friend of mine had this omega seamaster for a while now. I'm unable to open the case so unfortunately I can't get the movement pictures of it. May i ask if this is a legit or is it a Franken seamaster? It comes in a chrome case which I find it strange for a seamaster (it's suppose to be be a diver watch isn't it?) dammit sorry for the feet pics.
Not an expert here. But that case shape don’t look familiar. I haven’t seen an omega with that case design. And that case back is a huge cause for suspicion.
Chrome over brass? Very unusual for an Omega from the past 70 years. Are you sure it isn't stainless steel, the caseback looks steel. The logos are 1970-80s so it could be from a cost cutting era but on balance I don't like it at all. Even if legit, it isn't massively desirable and if it has a 10XX movement may open a can of servicing worms.
"Seamaster" has not always signified a diver watch, in fact the first Seamasters were only water resistant and absolutely not for diving.
I don't recall seeing a Seamaster dial in that case before. It is normally seen with Genève dials and cal 10XX. It most definitely is steel and is ref. 166.0168 if I am not mistaken. EDIT: 166.0168 is the date version, this is obviously a bit different
As Troels says: https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-geneve-omega-st-166-0168 Day date is 0169 https://www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-geneve-omega-st-166-0169
