    Hey everyone,

I'm heading over to sweden (my SO is swedish) for christmas this year, and we decided to go through switzerland for a few days on the way to the homeland.

Do you have any suggestions for watch/non-watch related things to visit/do?

    Thanks,
    Ed

Nice. Taking the neutrality tour. Not many war museums to visit.

But a relatively large number of armaments factories, funnily enough :whistling:

To the OP; go and visit Denmark, Sweden's better looking neighbour :D

On the south side of the Alps, the train up to Zermatt and further up to the Gornergrat. You can gondola even higher to the Kleine Matterhorn.
On the north side, you can train it from Interlaken through Grindelwald to the Jungfraujoch.
Both trips are all day adventures BUT are not cheap and a clear day is a must.
If you are using the trains for a few days, are going on expensive mountain rides, consider purchasing a half fare card.

+1 for the Gornegrart observatory. I was there in 2013.

If you have kit (i.e. maybe you are on your way to Åre) get a ski day pass and do all that PLUS add to the sense of amazement by strapping your ski's/snowboard on and riding all the way down and around the Matterhorn as many times as you can in one day...its a serious long (awesome) ride. If you cant ski/snowboard then just ignore...

If you come for longer and plan on riding lots of trains, a GA can also be worth it. But if you are only here for a few days, then on top of a 1/2 tax is also the '9-o-clock' pass -> gives you pretty much a ticket for the entire country at a good price after 9am...which can be cheaper than point to point tickets.

But be warned, everything is $$$$$$$$$$$$.

Switzerland in general is $$$$$$$$. Everything is 1.5-2x the US, or at least that's what it used to be a few years back.

I've only been to Zurich and would recommend it wholeheartedly. Stay downtown and enjoy the history, people watching and food. And Bahnhofstrasse has a watch shop or two. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge...;)

Truth to be told, Sud Tirol is a much better value and just as nice.....granted no Matterhorn, but the mighty Dolomites.

I actually just came back from Geneva about a couple weeks ago. Lots to see both watch and not watch related, such as the Patek Museum, UN headquarters, Red Cross. Geneva is a beautiful city. Very easy to walk just about anywhere. But be careful it is expensive (food, taxi's, etc.) almost everything is imported hence the cost.
