Thought I would start a discussion about this, the catalogue for Christies November auction has been released recently (Link for the Omegas: http://www.christies.com/salelandin...105fdb55ba&action=refinecoa&selectedids=37811) 23 Omegas in total. Another 2915-2 as well as the two Bukowski -1 ones, a CK14755

Anything people are thinking of bidding on?
    Anything which looks suspect?
    Any thaughts in general?

    Lucas.

There are some really, really nice pieces in this auction. Interestingly, a very small Heuer selection and no Tudors. Struck me as odd.

Highlights for me (names are linked to lots):
Seamaster ref 14755: The 14755 looks to be practically NOS as well - really wish they would photograph in a more "real" light, but I suspect that it's terrific in the metal as well.
Speedy 2915-2: Upon first glance, everything looks correct. Really nice and I'm sure this will fly.
Longines Flyback: I've been in love with these for a long time - I think this flies past the estimate.
UG Oversize Caribelli Compax: Just a killer military chrono. So cool with unbelievable condition.

This Awful POS: It's offensive to think that someone would spend any money on this, let alone 60-90K CHF. Ugh.

Have you seen the off-centered subdial? To me, it looks like a red flag...

It's a Carabelli Milano, not Cairelli. Beautiful either way

I was moving pretty quickly, so didn't look at enlarged pictures - just the ones that come up in the attached links. Obviously I would go much farther in-depth if I was a serious buyer for anything in these big auctions. Thanks for pointing out.
Fixed! Haha, maybe I was moving too quickly

I've always been curious, can anyone tell me what's the process like to actually bid at Christie's? Can anyone or is there a process or membership?

I have bid (and sold) at Bonhams, a similar, auction house albeit generally with cheaper watches than Christies. When I was there all you did was fill in a form, get your paddle and start bidding. However, perhaps on the expensive lots like at Christies, you need to show proof of funds before hand. Im sure someone will chime in with more experience than me.

I can't really tell much from the pictures at all, you'd really think extensive high quality photos would be essential in this age.
Mind you I like the look of lot 153 Omega Seamaster 300 experimental watch used on the Conshelf II !

They make it pretty easy. You sign up, they ask for ID/credit card to confirm you, and then you get a number assigned to you. You do have to enter your "anticipated bid amount" and I imagine if you are a high roller then you might have to confirm your funds via other means, as well.

These are the pieces that I will be following most closely, because of the value (not necessarily the most desired or most expensive):

Lot 22 - AP triple calendar, ref 5504. I think this is the most beautiful layout of any triple calendar in existence. Incredibly rare. At its estimate, I think someone is going to get tremendous value. I wish I could bid on this. I would sell a kidney for this.

Lot 100: JLC Geophysic Chronometre in 18K gold. Again, talk about rare (in 18k gold), and talk about value. I think this at its current estimate, might be the best bang for buck in the whole auction.

Finally, Lot 146: Breitling chronograph. Ok, stainless steel split chrono at 38mm? Do I need to say more??

I completely agree. Also one of the most interesting.

Not sure JLC will be bidding on this either - they have the original given to the captain of the U.S.S. Nautilus after (or maybe before?) the polar expedition. Who knows.

Still, thanks for pointing this out!

That Breitling is beautiful and estimates are realistic. AP incredible too. Great choices.
