    Hi all,
I bought a pocket watch conversion and would love some thoughts and help on age and authenticity.
    It appears to be authentic.
I have been told it is likely early 1900 (1900 - 1912 was indicated).
Colour: Somewhat unusual - The face is a dark chocolate on steel with the numbers and logo etched into it
Face is somewhat unusual because the seconds are set at 9 o'clock, not at 6, and teh hands have likely been replaced with a later model white baton / fine point
Movement: Looks authentic and could be anywhere between 1900 and 1940 I'm guessing. It is pristine!
Inside cover: Has a serial number 4408870 followed by 17 and U
    Size: about 45-47mm
Conversion looks to be a very solid job...note welds
Works incredibly well and accurate; nice ticker on it...

Source is a reliable, so I am just trying to find out more, confirm the above age and authenticity as well as get any info you might have.

Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi @Inkwell, welcome on the forum :)

It's a much newer conversion with a new dial on an old movement. Tbere are some period pocket watch conversions out there, but they nearly always use women's PW as a base and are thus much smaller.

You can look up the serial number on the movement on one of the various serial number charts available online to give you an approx. year of production.

Regarding the size, it definitely does not appear to be a women’s pocket watch.
Having said that, I have seen no indication that it is not authentic.
I’ll just have to chase the numbers in the catalog I guess.
Would appreciate any other helpful information anyone may have.

I see nothing to suggest that it is :)

These have been around for a long time, here's a thread about them from seven years ago: https://omegaforums.net/threads/converted-pocket-watches.454/

I think the main problem with them is that of misrepresentation; sellers peddling them as early pieces and not being honest about their manufacture.

Slightly off topic but I think this is a shot of an original Chro 18 movement from early last century. Something like 47.5 mm.
Omega have done a cracking job with the 1913 very limited (18) edition pieces in my opinion.

Last year I could have bought a bag of PW’s for $50 at a flea market in Naples Fla. I like the piece ... it’s a nice conversion. Sometimes it’s just nice to wear a fun watch. Old components find new life.

Thanks Larry! TBH I love the watch and it is a great piece. I guess I will do some searches through the above links to see what else I can find out but, you are right, it is a nice conversion and fun to wear.

    Mini update:
Pocket-watch Case Serial indicates about 1910

(Just to keep me entertained I guess...)
