Checking my buy - can anyone verify that this movement is in correct and acceptable?

The case has been polished and case edges restored. Thanks! s-l1600-5.jpg s-l1600-6.jpg s-l1600-9.jpg s-l1600-10.jpg

Not sure that dial and case back ever met each other previously

Which you think may not be correct date period for the watch - dial or case back?

We talked about this in another thread. Dial not matching case. Hands relumed. At $3k, I am not sure buying a correct dial makes financial sense.

No idea if serial is correct, never got past dial/hands.

Thanks - what dial characteristics need to be in place for the dial to match case ?

    1. Confirm serial number/model. I suspect it's -71
    2. If -71, them buy step dial. Problem is -69 use these same dial. I have been looking for one since Feb. Probably ~$800-1000.
    3. Buy handset? Maybe not needed, but those hands look way too good and match way too well. I picked up two sets of hands recently, but note they are selling $400+
4.keep old parts. Don't sell speedy parts. Better than gold.
    5. Good luck

    Thanks a lot.
I can't quite make out the serial but looks like 3284xxx - Seen a 145.022 dial at 900 but not sure about it either ;)
To confirm the step dial has two indentations in the chrono dials??
Not conceivable an old dial can have been relumed both dial and hands?

32,84x,xxx would indicate case back matches movement.

    Thanks.
Yep been looking over at Speedmaster101. So even with the ridges not raised up. Think I've got it. Speedmaster 101 images aren't so clear. dial.png

No step -71 modern Speedmaster font... pass unlessmcheap and you want to do a custom dial and hands.

This watch was overpaid for IMO, brand-new dial and hands have no value and the case has been polished. Hopefully whoever bought it has a plan for it that warranted such a high bid, but I have a feeling that Speedy fever is beginning to reach a "buy now, ask questions later" phase

IS this ghost bezel a 'real' one - I know this is open to a very wide interpretation - and therefore of benefit? This factor had attracted me to the watch..

I totally was on the wrong track re. 'stepped' dial in this 1971 realize its the main dial and not sub dials which was my initial understanding.

Is it overvalued if a decent price (max 1000 usd) correct dial can be found given that the 1971 version of this watch is less in numbers than say 1969? Plus what would be a 'normal' price for an intact 1971 with correct dial? Likely above 3K but how much.. again dependent on interpretation.. this case has good edges.. ;)
