Greetings! Old regular here that hasn’t visited regularly for too long. I got interested in other watches that weren’t getting much traction here.

It’s Omega that brings me back here where the true experts “reside.” I’m 55 now, and I really appreciate a center minute chronograph counter! I just got a Speedmaster 125 Anniversary, and have a Mark V on the way. I’d like to find a nice 007 since I used to have one in the 80’s.

The reason for my post is I am looking for other posts about collecting Omega chronographs from the 70’s/80’s that had Lemania center minute chrono hands (Omega 1040 and 1045 since I now have a 1041 again). I can’t seem to find anything using the search function, but maybe I forgot the tricks for getting search results? Certainly others have discussed 1040 versus 1045?

I know the technical differences between the two. I guess my real question is, if you were going to begin collecting Omega center minute hand chronographs, would you focus on one caliber over the other? Or just get whatever catches your fancy? I’m NOT Holy Grail hunting yet!

So if anyone has some hints for searching other posts, or cares to contribute something here, I very much appreciate it.

To me the 1040 is the obvious choice. Interesting color choices and a terrific, easy to read movement. But the classic Moonwatch is the only Speedmaster that interests me, so I don't 'get' the 1045s.
