The caseback set off alarm bells but unfortunately when asking for the condition report the auction house didn't have the right tools to remove the back, so no choice but to attend the sale I thought probably a 105.003 and the back had been changed out perhaps because it had a personal inscription. Using my Pahawi opener I found - Movement No 19834861 - (proper to 2998-6,-61,-62 or 105.002-62) It had the newer clutch lever bridge and the pusher action was not smooth also I wound it 25 times and it wasn't getting tight, it worked Ok but maybe some issues The dial was an A7 with close spaced Ts, hands looked correct for that dial Caseback inscribed 145.012-67 SP All the other things were correct for a 105.003 It went for £5456 - cheap if you want to break it and sell individually but I'm not into that although the mint DON would have been nice to have, had the movement aligned with the dial I would have bid on it and put a sapphire on the back to admire the 321 Hey Ho wasted journey but enjoyable detective work. https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/...0163/lot-c63f2214-0ec5-4b8d-bf2f-a9ae00ea8297
No telling if it's a speedmaster movement, or...? If no, I'm not sure I'll call it cheap, but I'm no expert, so.....
I don't know what it is but something just doesn't look right to me. Thanks for confirming all the other details... one to keep as a beater or for parts...
What's an A7 dial selling for these days? It's either a bitza or it's been altered so much over the years and services that it's lost all its originality. The price, I don't think, reflects the sum of its parts but it's also not going to be "right" again without spending more than its market value. What a shame.
