·Up for sale is this rare genuine vintage Certina DS-2 Super PH1000M with gorgeous yellow dial. This big cult classic vintage diver is 100% original and dates from the early late 1960s/early 1970s and is in an overall good condition.
The case, oh the case. Big and chunky (45mm w/o crown) with a lot of presence. The c-shaped case with the Original signed semi-recessed crown is without doubt untouched. There are dings and wear from 50years of service, which I personally like, makes the watch alive some how and a lot more wearable compared to a NOS one. And yes, the height is 18mm.
The deep yellow dial is, as far I can see without flaws. There are some small lume losses at index 11 and 12 but nothing that distracts. The hands are intact but worth telling is that the lume fill on the seconds hand is a little darker compared to the others. The crystal, flat high-pressure mineral crystal, isn't really scratch free. It does it's job but it would be nice if it was replaced during a service or so.
The bezel is a thick original ratcheting bidirectional rotating volcano-shaped acrylic piece that functions as supposed. You press it down, rotate and release it and it's looked in the desired position. The bezel has a crack between 50-55 and some marks all around the bezel but its still in pretty good shape after all.
Under the hood we find the in-house 28-jewel Certina caliber 25-651. The movement does it's job well. Haven't noticed any issues regarding timekeeping or it's power reserve, however, I don't know anything about the history of the watch so it might be a good thing to invest in a service of the movement.
That was pretty much all I guess, questions is answered here or thru DM.
