路I've used those stickers on various case-backs and never had any trouble getting them to stick. The outer edge is certainly adhesive. I wonder if maybe you didn't clean the back of the watch well enough.

路路Omega Qualified WatchmakerThe best resting position for a wristwatch is on the side, crown up. Nothing touches the caseback and it's also the best position for the balance wheel pinions.
Balance wheels don't have pinions...they have pivots.
If the watch is properly maintained, the resting position makes no difference for long term durability.
