    Hi All,

Can you please help me to clarify a doubt.

Can a caseback with IV 65 marks can be from a wact with serail 5.xxx.xxx, that I believe dates it to 1978.

    The model is a 1675.
    Thanks for any comment

No, a 1965 case back should be on a 1.3xx.xxx or near 1675.
A 5.xxx.xxx. 1675 should have a case back without date.
If in good condition and you are interested we could swap...

Thanks for the reply and comment.

So this case back does not match the case in terms of assembly.

I don’t really understand what you mean by in terms of assembly, I believe the watch didn’t leave the factory like that. Technically it should fit.

I will just support what @omegastar has already said since the OP seems skeptical. The "IV 65" marks indicate that the case-back was assembled onto a watch manufactured in the fourth quarter of 1965, so clearly it is not the original case-back associated with the 5M movement. After 1973 (IIRC), the case-backs have no date stamp.

Correct. OP’s case should not have a date stamp in it. His current case back has significantly more value than an undated Caseback.
