My first experience with Bucherer was back in 1971 when my grandparents bought me a Bucherer dive watch from the Bucherer shop in Lucerne.
It was on my wrist non stop through middle school, high school, college and beyond. I beat the crap out of it. Had it refinished in 2008 and still enjoy it.
It is also responsible for my love of watch collecting.
I just purchased a brand new CF Bucherer Patravi
Autodate two tone 18k rose gold and stainless steel. I have to say, while not surprised, quite happy with the level of finish. It really is magnificent and I would say on an extremely high level.
I actually think on a higher level than my Omega Seamaster. Although CFB is clearly more jewelry/dress oriented.
To be fair, movements are important to me.
This watch uses a Sellita SW200-1 Elabore grade.
Certainly not impressive when looking at the super high level of the rest of the watch. BTW, steel and rose gold bracelet is beautiful.
After a few days it appears to be running 15 seconds fast per day. Since it has hacking I can live with that for now. Easy to adjust time.
I will say that CFB did do a nice job finishing the movement with the open case back.
But, in the end, I love the watch and for me there is a sentimental factor here because of my history with the brand. And for true watch collectors (not investors) isn’t the emotional component all part of the addiction?
I wonder if the CFB brand will ever catch on in the US since it purchased Tourneau. I visited their store a couple of weeks ago in NYC. Quite an experience.
