Found this little one on a Devon car boot sale on Monday.. 1970 Omega Genève..It was from an antique dealer so was not super cheap, but it was in a really honest original condition.. Beautiful manual wind cal.613 movement..

 

When you say " not super cheap " , do you mind telling us approximately how much. Really nice find for a car boot sale.

 

I paid £180 for it..I thought this was an okay price for this, as it was in really nice condition.. The crystal had a little “underlined Omega” symbol.. Reckon this was the original one..?

 

A good buy. Is it going to be a keeper.

 

Sold it for a minor profit.. I prefer bigger watches..

The omega symbol on the glass would certainly indicate it’s an original Omega glass, but the glass may easily have been replaced during a standard service at some point in the watches life. There’s no line underneath, so this is likely a small scratch.

Wow, first time I’ve seen that kind of mark on a dial. Maybe someone else can shed some light in this variation?

 

I’ve been told by a watchmaker specializing in omega’s that there are indeed fake omega crystals out there that have an emblem in the middle-could this perhaps be one of them?

 

I recently had two exactly the same watch.. They both had very similar serial ranges, both had the crystal with “underline” omega symbols..

 

i am late to this conversation, so my aplogies- only been a member for 4 days. i am searching for a omega crystal for my 1969 geneve, and have exhausted my on line searching abiltes- any guidance out there to point me in the right direction?

 

I could be a smart arse and reply with:

"I am searching for a windscreen for my 1969 Triumph........................etc etc".

First you need to find out what reference your watch is. If you don't already know it, it can be found engraved or stamped on the inside of the caseback.

Once you have that you can go to various websites ( e.g.: cousinsuk.com ) and navigate your way to watch parts and then Omega Case Parts and then search by Omega Reference No.

You can then buy from them, or use the information to search other sources.
