Can’t believe this is still available!

It's not just that I'm "not a buyer" of the watch, it's that I found your representation to be dubious, as if you might have some connection with the seller.

All right, @Tony C. I’ll bite: based on what? What was my evil plan? I’m a member here, so if the watch was mine, or I was somehow connected to it and looking to profit, why wouldn’t I just post an ad selling it here? The truth is: I love some nice patina on a watch, I found this watch on reddit, posted pictures here asking members for advice (that’s verifiable by looking through my history) I got positive and negative advice, but enough positive to make me interested. So I began negotiating with the seller, he was very fair and we worked out a price. At the same time, a deal I wasn’t sure was going to go through with @ConElPueblo on his beautifully patinaed Seamaster did (also verifiable by looking through my history) so I let the seller of the Geneve know the deal I was working on first happened and I’m only looking to buy one Omega right now. I then thought, hey, it’s a solid rose gold omega for just over a grand, and members at OF seemed interested after I posted it - I should let them know it’s still available in case anyone’s interested. It seemed like a nice thing to do for the forum as reddit isn’t somewhere I normally look for watches, and I’m not alone there. That’s the extent of my connection and my evil plan. Full stop.

The "evil plan" nonsense is a straw man. I was simply pointing out that you were effusively praising a watch that has at least one condition issue, and a question of dial originality, along with the price, while pointing out that the seller is "willing to deal".

That kind of post is fairly typical of shills who help to catalyze sells. You say now that you have no connection to the seller. Glad to hear it.

OK, I’m willing to learn. In the event that in the future I want to help out somebody else selflessly again, what is the best way to go about that? If I had just posted the ad saying I’m not buying this after all but it’s still available if anyone’s interested, would that have led to the same issue? Because I see that on the forum all the time. Maybe adding why I thought somebody else would be interested in this, making it personal, as I was trying to help, was where I went wrong in your opinion?

Honestly, I'm not personally offended by the fact that you posted this, the watch is just not appealing to me. However, if you sincerely want to understand why some people might be bothered, I will try to explain.

It looks like you had already indicated that you were not going to buy this watch, 10 days ago, and provided the link at that time in your original thread on the topic. Some people might feel that that was enough, and that starting this new thread was overdoing it, which caused suspicion. Again, you don't need to explain yourself to me, since I am willing to take your explanations at face value.

I pretty much agree with Tony and Dan about the watch, but sometimes I see what I think is a nice watch that I don't need and feel it would be nice to let someone here have a go. Perhaps I am being naive but that's all I see in the intent of this thread. OP's posts don't read like a shill to me (and no, I have no connection with him). It's the same idea as Recommended Omega Watches On Ebay, the only difference being that IMO @rkman11 didn't quite get it right in his choice of watch.

I'm not about to go too far into this subject, I'll only submit that some of the things that are hinted at in this thread re. @rkman11's motives for posting a recommendation doesn't fit with what I have experienced from him at all. If you do not have anything to say about the watch, perhaps it would be time to just move on and not comment here - the watches members highlight are fair game and there are some good points raised on the watch in question.
