So why haven't you bought it?

I went back-and-forth with the seller and worked out a great deal - was about to buy, and then a deal I had been working on earlier worked out. So I couldn’t buy both. Now just looking to pass along what I think is a good deal to a fellow member.

Well I could give you a list of reasons why I haven't bought it, but honestly I'm more curious about this "reddit" thing. What the heck is it, and do I need to start checking it?

1. Case doesn't appear all that rosy to me; could just be the photos.
2. Case seems heavily polished.
3. Caseback is engraved. Some people are okay with that, but I don't care for it.
4. Dial has spots. Some people are okay with that, but I don't care for it.

Yeah, those were pretty much my reasons too. 😉

I thought the same thing. Signed up for it just so I could look into this watch. Wonder what I’ve been missing!

Definitely the beauty of this hobby. What someone doesn’t like, another person loves. I happen to love an engraved case back and some nice looking patina. I agree with you on the polishing, and I think that’s reflected in the price. As for the color, it’s definitely nice and rosy as I’ve seen other pictures.
Anyways, to each their own. It’s not my sale, so I think I’ve put in enough effort on a stranger’s behalf!

Not sure if you're joking. Reddit is the 5th most visited site on the web, after google, youtube, facebook, baidu. Reddit is a social news site, and there are approximately 1.2 billion sub-reddits (joking). People sell on reddit so they can avoid eBay fees. As with OF, there are watch sellers on reddit with stellar reputations and sellers with zero reputation. Caveat emptor.

Thanks, I was only semi-joking. I have heard of Reddit obviously, but was honestly not aware of the watch-selling side of it and I would be grateful if you could give me the short of it since the user interface seems pretty basic. So this "watchexchange" sub-reddit is basically just a classified section that you can browse or search? What about buyer/seller reviews, are they available? Anything else to focus on in your experience?

Edit: Once my eyes got a little more accustomed to the reddit interface, I found this wiki that was helpful and answered many of my questions.

Feedback is usually given in this subreddit (/r/watchexchangefeedback): https://www.reddit.com/r/WatchExchangeFeedback/

And yeah, it's basically the sales section of this forum, in that people post ads and works in more or less the same fashion. Only rule there is any picture you post has to have a timestamped note to prove its in your possession.

I've found some gems there 😀

This watch is largely unappealing, and red flags abound. Not only is the case (over)polished, but the seller mentions nothing about the movement. It is the style of the automatics, yet if that were the case, the dial should read "automatic". Furthermore, if it is a French market case, then where's the "Fab. Swiss"?

I wouldn't go near it.

All the information you’re after is there in the pictures. Several links to pictures, including movement and case. But if it doesn’t appeal - to you - don’t go near it.

Thanks. I had to click on three different links before finding them. So...

Very poorly designed advertisement; dissonant dial for a French market case, and it has seen a fair bit of polishing. Also not cheap at anywhere near the asking price.

Maybe I'm not looking at the photos correctly, but I see 8 pictures: 5 of the dial and 3 of the back.

Okay. Think we’ve established you’re not a buyer for this watch.

Not my watch and I don’t plan to push it any further. I wanted to link here as when I originally posted pics to get opinions several members expressed interest. Since I’m not purchasing, wanted to do a good deed and pass along to those interested here.

It's not just that I'm "not a buyer" of the watch, it's that I found your representation to be dubious, as if you might have some connection with the seller.
