I have come across the below (bad pics I know, trying to get better) Could be from a WG 25th, could be a service dial. Either way may be worth picking up Anyone have any experience having water damaged (I assume) silver dials restored? Thx
Hi, that is not a wg 25th. Those have Chronometer written as a 4th line below Professional. This could be from a wg from 1980. Great piece though.
well, I agree, seller not going to win any photography awards however, I decided to roll the dice and see what I get. worst case its not salvageable and I put it in a beat up speedy for an unusual beater watch. Ill update this thread with some decent photos when I get it - but may take a while as seller would not ship outside of Germany so I have to route it via buddy there.
Most likely a service dial, and these dials aren't WG by the way they are rhodium... service because of the low SWISS MADE. Originals (at least, older parts) have high SWISS MADE (I did see what looks like an old service dial with high SWISS MADE.) The case is WG, though. Depending on what you paid for, it might have been better to just buy the service part IMO. Here is mine. Let us know the results
agree on the probability of a service dial (and yep not wg dial) - did not pay alot, and got a few other parts too- nothing too exciting or interesting, a stem and crown - these too, may or not be salvageable. I did inquire about the case, but no luck on that ;-)
Donor secured. Only paid VAP, which good cuz its got a lot of mismatching parts, I'm sure it has a story to tell if it could talk. Hands dont match the dial, case and movement numbers dont match, and what 861/1861 has that chronohand?? The odd thing is, I actually quite like its oddness and been wearing it quite a bit. Broad arrow hands a growing in me. Oh and the dial actually looks ok, damage is lacquer peel. Which I may be able to live with.
