So, I was very happy with this 14755 I picked up 3 years ago. Was told original dial and aldo bezel.
I became less happy when I bought a geiger counter and tested the dial whcih basically was flat-maybe a few cpm,s above backround (maybe).

With a loupe the lume really looks original to my eye, the lume is depressed slightly in the dial as I beleive it should be. The lume shines after bright light evenly and fades is less than a minute. I discussed this with one of our very knowing OF seamaster experts who felt that the dial could possibly still be all original even though no real geiger jump. Maybe he was just being nice :)

I thought I would ask the community if they believe this could be original or if it is definitely some type of relume.
I hope that these pics are helpful and thank you all in advance.

If it’s fake I would have fallen for it. That doesn’t mean much because I’m not an expert really.

In any event it’s a beautiful watch and I would enjoy it.

Can you take a pic of the lume at in action?

    No need to hate.
Here is my 14755-61. No radium but with an explanation.

Bezel dial and hands restored by Aldo.
Seller waited 2 years for Aldo to finish.
Probably got so frustrated he sold the watch so after the job was completed.

Perhaps OP watch has similar history. I believe Omega also relumed radium 2913 and 2914s during 1960’s services. Radium 14755s as well.

Fantastic watch. No idea how anyone could be unhappy with it. Even if it was, likely, relumed with old tritium at some point.

Not truely unhappy at all, just a jolt of disappointment when the geiger failed to click away. Thanks for the kind words!

I mean, read your own thread title. “Unhate” implies “hate” and that’s like, a couple of steps beyond unhappy.

it all depends on the year of production for your 14755 cuz

in 61-62 they switched from radium to trituim, so it is likely possible that u have a tritium dial hand combo, even in very late 2913-8 a tritium is possible.

so if the fading behavior is correct for a tritium (like u told) the biggest issue is the the seconds hand broken tip ::bleh::

if u still hate it i will buy it :D

WOW! did not know any 14755's were originally tritium! I believe mine an 18mill serial (1961). Will need to pop hood to confirm.

Watch now un-hated, maybe loved :)

It all depends on how you feel about the watch, you can always sell it and buy another one. Buying and collecting watches should be fun. Keep it for a couple of months and see how you feel about it.
