Dear members This is my second post on this forum and the advice I got previously was excellent so I wonder if you could possibly offer assistance again please. i am longing to buy a circa 1960 seamaster deville but I want a good one hence my plea as I don't really know what I am doing. I have comes across one that is currently up for auction on eBay and I really like it, however I would like to make sure that it's correct and I would appreciate any advice and comments on condition and possible value. If you have the time I would appreciate your help, many thanks
Looks to be correct with an original dial and in excellent condition. The only thing that stands out as incorrect to me is the minute hand which looks like it was replaced. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the advice, would the replacement minute hand effect the value, would you have any idea what a fair price for it would be
William Use the advanced search in eBay for Omega Seamaster DeVille and specify completed listings. That will give you an idea of what comparable watches have fetched in the recent past.
Looks good overall, just a little more polished on the lug edges than I'd like but livable. The minute hand isn't that big of a deal. They did get one that matches the style.
Dennis i appreciate your advice, I have been hoping that something similar would come up for sale on this forum from one of the members
Have you purchased this and if not what is the asking price...these come up here on the sales forum in very good shape fairly often. Depending on the price of this watch you may want to wait, just my two cents...
It's a nice watch, and if you could get it in the $600 range you'd be okay. I'm a little biased towards these front loading watches, particularly with linen dials.
No I have not purchased it yet but there is no asking price as it's an auction. I should have mentioned that I am in the UK and I believe from previous advice that vintage omegas are a little more expensive over here.
If I was selling this here in the UK I would hope to get a bit more than Dennis' $600 USD, which is about £400 GBP. I got £425 for a 1962 Seamaster which was not as nice as this, so I would reckon £500 ($750) or so would be nearer the mark.
I am also looking at this watch but did not fancy it as much, any thoughts on this please I believe it is circa 1960
Second watch is actually in better condition as it has not been polished which is more desirable to a collector. It should clean up nicely.
maybe I am drawn to shiny things, what would you suggest I have done with the second watch when you say clean up nicely. I am now becoming more interested in it. Thanks again for your advice
Second watch looks like it just needs a good wipe down or ultrasonic bath. And likely a full service.
I now like both for different reasons, I intend to try and buy both. The shiny one I will wear and the other I willhave serviced and ultrasonic bath and keep and begin my collection.
