Anyone want to hazard a guess on what the hour markers and numerals are made of on this 1952 Seamaster 2635? White gold? Solid? Plated? Plain old steel? A la Mr. Spock, “Cast Rodinium, the hardest substance known to our science”?
Take the ratio of the sound pressure to the reference level of sound pressure and then take the logarithm (base 10) of that ratio, and then multiply by 20...that'll give you an answer.
Might not be the answer you're looking for, but it will be an answer!
*sorry, taking a 10 min break from a brain melting class...couldn't help myself
Hello! Most indexes on solid gold AND gold capped watches are made of gold.
I second, most likely they are white gold. At least I have found that out on 30 Rg chronometres.
When researching for my book I sent a dial to a local University to have tested the alloy and it turned out to be white gold.
Edit: For the analysis a scanning electron microscope was used, the best and probably most sensitive research method for this purpose.
Average contents of metals in the alloy taken from 4 different locations of the indexes:
Au: 70-80%
Ag: 10-20%
Pd: 10-15%
Cu: 0,5%
