Is it me, or don’t I see the s# on this beauty!
You are correct. I edit the photos to remove them before posting. I suppose I am paranoid.

I decided to hang up my Sangamo I've been wearing for the better part of a week and put my 1921 Bunn Special in my pocket this week.
Those Bunn Specials are beautiful!

Elgin version of the Hamilton Master Navigation Watch(4992B)
Elgin used their standard 21j grade 581 BW Raymond movement and added a center second hand for a 22j version for the Army Air Corps regulations plus some runs were gold flashed as a work-around as regulations required brass but Elgin’s preexisting stock were all nickel. The early war supply emergency necessitated this gold flashed beauty.
Some had metal marginal minutes dials, some a GMT dial and some “hacked”. All were pendant set and had “Elgin nickel” cases.
Serial number indicates it is very early 1942.

As we are looking at military watches now, here is one from WW2. Hamilton navigational chronograph model 23, used by Army Air Force (which became US Air Force in 1947), Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, as well as Air Council of UK.

Wearing this 1906 vintage 16 Size Elgin Veritas with 270 movement today.

Wondering how difficult it would be to source a nicer ratchet wheel (?) that has no pits from corrosion?

Look for a parts mov't with a decent ratchet wheel. It may take some time, but patience usually pays off in this game.

A man brought a few watches in today to show me.

Two old fusée watches and a ladies gold watch.

I did not have my keys with me but did manage to wind one of the pocket watches. See video of how fast it turned.

Those old movements are always so impressive looking.

And the wristwatch wound smoothly and worked. The name and initials on the case back and clasp.

Dietrich is a common name around here. But it’s fun to fantasize.

Aspinwall (Aspinall), likely John, Liverpool (Wapping), 1800. (Likely Wapping Dock, Liverpool.)

O’Reilly, (listing shows Charles), Dublin, 1820. Perhaps a successor or other family?

These listings from G H Baillie, volume 1.

(I suggest NEVER winding someone else’s 19th century watch in case something (mainspring?) breaks!

My new 950, circa 1914, arrived today. This one was just serviced, so it is immediately going into service in my pocket. If you'll notice in the last photo, this is a pendant set watch.
Edit: uploaded better photos.
