I currently have three Hamiltons in my regular rotation, two Piping Rocks, both made in 1929, and a Donald made in 1947.

A few months ago I missed an auction end by 1 second but the item, a 23 jewel 6 position Asymmetric Hamilton from the 40's/ 50's got no bids, I waited for the relist but it never came up again.
The dial was shot but it was a working good order watch, been kicking myself ever since.
I contacted the seller via another auction but alas he had sold it off auction.

Ok, guys, I know it's not the appropriate thread for this... But, I'm visiting me sister in California this Christmas. And I want to take the opportunity to bring back to the old continent a RR 992B watch 😀

If any of you have one too many, or might guide to a good place to look for in the northern part of the Americas, I'd appreciate your guidance.

Greetings from rainy Brussels

A 992b is a great choice. I’ll DM a suggestion of where to get one, but maybe someone here has one they’d let go

Hmmmmmm........How so?
The scroll work. I was stationed in San Angelo in the Army and there was a saddle maker in town. (I bought a belt from him.) Anyway, I've noticed this scroll motif on nicer saddles.
i guess i shouldn't say everything that pops in my head. 😁 Definitely a very attractive watch.

Mostly pocket watches (100 of them), but a few wrist watches and clocks. Our Railway Days display at our Heritage Park, Saturday (14th) and Sunday. Happy, after a busy Saturday, but tired, 😴 and looking forward to Sunday.

Found this at my used bookstore. Just getting started but very informative and well-written. Downside is the small font is rough on my old eyes.

Astonishing on much Michael Harrold knew and was able to organize.

Michael Harrold’s book is excellent. It was originally made available to NAWCC members, and I’m certain it is long out of print. I don’t know if NAWCC in Columbia PA would still have inventory of it. But it might (obviously) be available from on line sources.

Years ago, a friend of mine (now deceased), was at an NAWCC convention. In the mart, he found an elderly chap who had a few watches for sale. Among the watches was Hamilton 992B serial number 2! Yes, the second one made! My friend resisted the urge to buy it (price?), so the next day, he was looking for the chap. …………….! He kicked his derrière until the day he died, I’m sure. At our train show booth over the week end, we had 13 992Bs. Nice watch @TexOmega . Only one repair number that I saw.

This is my first purchased PW, which was an impulse purchase when I knew nothing about PW, except that I wanted one. After this, I did some reading and purchased my Hamilton 992 and Illinois 23j Bunn Special, both of which I really like. (My first owned PW was an Elgin that came out of the attic of my great-grandmother, which was later stolen in a house burglary.)

So this brings me back to my neglected and unloved first PW. I decided to pull it out (had to look all over the house for it) and try to figure out what it is.

Longines, 17j, double (?) Hunter Fahys 16s, serial number 1588888. It looks attractive to me, which is why I bought it. But it's a mystery as to model, grade and production year and volume.
