Swiss, 15-jewels, lever escapement. 2/2 plateau, of that I don’t know. Likely a lot more would come to light, but we would need to see pictures of markings inside the case back (karat gold?), and the mechanism. That would require the inside back cover (cuvette) to be opened.

Thank you so much, I will try to get more pictures.

0.585 is 14k gold.

Can you obtain a few movement photos? Including close ups of any markings.

That should be good enough to get readable imagines of any markings that may be on the movement.

Depending on who made the movement, the ebauche may not be visible, though.

This one again today, will always have an attraction for this piece as I purchased it from a Brocante while on holiday in France and managed to negotiate a substantial discount 😁

I may have posted this before when you have shown your gun metal pocket watch. If I have, my apologies! On cases such as yours with the gold colour trim, the yellow trim is called gallone. The only definition I have uncovered for gallone is a description of fancy braid trim decorating ceremonial uniforms. There! I’ve said it, and I’ll try to avoid repeating it.

Pretty impressed with the bezel and overall quality of this watch. There is only letter F under the balance

I stuck this one up over on WRUW because I'm toting it today, but will introduce it here as well.

A recent acquisition, a "best offer accepted" from an Ebay seller, this Illinois Texan was an inexpensive bit of pleasing whimsy for me.

Could even be a hard-to-find variant.

Apparently this one is simply an Illinois Grade 706 movement made in 1917 to a small order with the "Texan" marking added to the movement. An NAWWC forum search found a discussion with a post stating that 340 Texans were made to order. This is what Pocket Watch Database says:

Run Quantity: 100
Grade/Model Run: 34 of 163

So, which is correct?

Keeps quite decent time, but could do with a service and a proper glass crystal, the plastic one having a scratch.

It's a beautiful watch Noelekal. I've not seen a "Texan" marked one before. The problem with 100 + year records is that it is almost impossible to verify. Whether it was made in a run of 100 or 340, there were not many made. Wear it in good health.

I was in a friend’s jewellery store today. He asked my opinion on two watches which are involved in probation of a will. This is a case where both of these will end up either being kept in the family, or going to the melt. Hopefully, the former! The first four images are of a 16-size Elgin hunter with a movement that features a “three fingered” bridge. The next 5 images are of a 16-size Elgin in a stunning hunter case.
