Ok, so when I set my Seamaster with it's 550 automatic caliber, it does not stop the second hand. This of course makes it a bit difficult to access its time keeping ability. So, can this caliber be hacked? Should it be? Or do I have an issue? The answer to this question may lead to others, especially if someone tells me it needs a service.

    Thanks for any information.

550 does not hack, nor do any of its relatives, 551, 565, etc.

Ok, That is all I really needed to know.

So is there a best practice to set the time closest to an Atomic clock time? Just to tell how well it's keeping time?

You certainly don't need to be able to hack it to know how well it's keeping time, but if the cannon pinion is tight enough you might be able to turn the crown backwards in the time setting position when the watch nearly run down to hack it. This is commonly referred to as the "pseudo-hack" as is done with Speedmasters often.

I would caution that you don't really want the watch to run backwards very much, but stopping it this way is fine.

    Cheers, Al

Just downloaded a free atomic clock app. Twixt looks very interesting. I assume it uses your camera. Will look into it once I figure out how to set it as close as I can.
