My seamaster has a 552 cal movement that states: "adjusted to 5 positions and temperature" (serial 237 dating it to 1966) but from what I read, the 552 was unadjusted. Can this be correct?

Some parts (bridges, rotors, etc) etc can be swapped between the 55x/56x/75x family calibers. You may have a train bridge from a 552 (obviously) and an auto module from a 564 (chronometer, thus adjusted) for example.
