Cal. 505 constellation intermittently loud

First, huge thanks to OF for the guidance and advice as I searched for my first Omega (well, technically third, but first keeper), and thanks for providing the great marketplace where I felt confident that I was buying a great watch. I plan to keep it for decades, but if I ever part with it, I hope I'll be able to find a new home for it here.

Now to my question. The watch is usually very quiet, but occasionally it will tick loudly. It seems to be dependent on position. From what I've observed today, it would sometimes tick loudly when flat, but if I turned my wrist to 6 o clock up, it would tick quietly. I'm not too concerned because it's keeping great time and although the service history is unknown, the moment is clean. But should I be more concerned?

There’s wear on the rotor, which typically indicates the axle was/needs to be replaced, but that shouldn’t affect the “ticking” volume… My guess is louder ticking is probably associated with a higher amplitude, so there’s a drop in amplitude when in 6-up position and you notice the ticking gets quieter. But someone more knowledgeable than me will probably chime in soon.

I'm guessing the ticking could be louder when the rotor is in contact with the case back

So actually it is running a bit fast, gaining about 2 second per hour on the wrist. I can hear it when it's dial up or dial down, and usually not in other positions. I guess it is going to have to take a trip to the watchmaker before long. The loud tapping makes me worry that something is going to get excessively worn.

I wouldn't worry particularly about the volume of the ticking, it can depend on a lot of different things. However, +2 seconds per hour probably means that the timekeeping has degraded substantially, and combined with the rotor rub, I'd say that overall it seems that a service is in order.

That’s usually the best way forward, certainly with such a notable gain in time. My cal. 505 is currently being serviced due to rotor wear, which is a common issue with these movements.
