hello watchlovers, I have the opportunity to buy a nice 14k 168.0053. It has the 1001 movement that had a recent service by a respected expert. Is it realy a horrible movement or is it not realy a problem? I can buy it for about 1.1k USD Gr
Yeah, bad or good buy depends on pictures. Not a bad movement if properly serviced. Desmond has the best say on this movement: http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec/Movement4.pdf.
Rule of thumb, all 3 digit calibers from 50's through the 80's are great. All 4 digit calibers from the same era, well, ..not so much ...Advice ive heard from different watchmakers
This is the watch I am talking about. I do know the seller aswell as the watch servicer. No movement pics at the moment.
It appears to be in great shape and price is about right, but it was serviced 1.5 years ago so may need to be again soon. Movement pics still needed in this case.
Thanks guys for your insights. I think I will buy it. I realy like the design of the watch. Furthermore I think that a watch with about 30 grams of 14K gold from a brand like Omega will not sell alot cheaper nowadays. Don't get me wrong, i am planning to keep it in the collection, but resale value is always a thing for me to keep in mind. beginning to hesitate a bit. You guys and offcourse Desmond know your stuff. Let's sleep a night and think about it. Gr
