Hi Forum,
looking for opinions on this Constellation 169.017.
Service history is unknown (aka needs service).. What would be a fair price in your eyes?

Hi. I believe there is nothing wrong with it, no obvious red flag for me here, assuming that that dark layer of gunk on the bezel can be cleaned off. It looks like it is just dirty, but if it is rust, I would pass on it, I think.

The case itself looks ok with no edges polished off.

I believe also it is safe to assume it is not a redial, but the quality of the fotos is not great and there seems to be a lot of scratches on the crystal and it distorts a little what we see on the dial.

I would assume this is one of those watches you buy hoping that it will clean off nicely and in the end it was much much better than it actually looked.

Also, this is a pretty common ref, which means they’re getting sold on eBay regularly. If you try searching for sold articles with the ref number 168.017 (not 169.017) you’ll get a good idea what they’re going for in the wild. You’ll then have to decide how much you want to push your luck with bad pictures like these. I do agree with @Rudi99, though, that there is potential for it to clean up nicely.

My bad, the reference should be 168.017! You're right!
It is offered to me with a 41mm tachymeter-scaled Seamaster Chronostop (that needs a service very badly...) for 1450€. Not too sure...

Sounds about right. You're definitely not getting cheated (depending on how the Chronostop is, naturally!), but you won't be doing the deal of the century.

The Constellation looks very nice.

It depends on how actually that Seamaster Chronostop is, completely original or not, but sounds a good price for the couple.

Hard to tell based on these pics - but as other have said the case looks good. Impossible to tell from these pics whether dial script is kosher but hands and crown look OK - these are often replaced or switched out. The lume on the hands and plots seem evenly matched. So there are encouraging signs.
Here in the UK, you can find genuine but unserviced examples with worn dials on eBay for around £350-400. Serviced examples via a good dealer will obviously include their margin, but can be had for £850. Not sure if some of the experts here will disagree on pricing but thats been my experience in hunting for C Cases

It is, sadly without the chronostop, in the mail and I'm excited for it to arrive. Will post a threat when it's on my wrist😀
Thanks for your help!
