C-shape constellation, doubt on calibre

Dear All,
I am about to buy this watch, but I have a doubt regarding the calibre .. the pic of the movement shows Cal.562 ... is this a chronometer caliber ? if not, should we assume the movement (or the bridge alone) was replaced ...?
And as a result, the watch cannot possibly be considered chronometer ?
The watch looks nice but if it was "mickeymoused" no interest anymore I suppose !
Thank you for having a look !

The 562 was not a formal chronometer caliber, but those fitted to Constellations were chronometer certified.

Courtey of @mondodec

562 27.90 RA SC PC CAL AM 24 p 19'800 1958 Seamaster - Seamaster De Ville (1960) - en partie avec bull. (Constellation)

"bull" = Rating Certificate for Chronometer

whilst the info from the records provided by Desmond is known, no-one has yet posted a Connie on OF containing a certified cal 562.
I even started a thread a couple of years back specifically to try and unearth one and there were no takers - and if there isn’t one belonging to an OF member they really must be like hen’s teeth.

@malilis I would treat any Connie with a 562 with suspicion unless it comes with original papers or extract.
if there are chronometer rated 562s, I would expect them to have a ‘5 positions’ bridge and the one you posted above doesn’t, so I would treat it with even greater suspicion.

Hope that helps.

I should have added that unless there is a valid chronometer certificate for the movement, or an Omega extract, then view with suspicion as @padders noted.

It's a nice looking example though and it's a shame you haven't got a pic of the inside caseback.
I'd be almost tempted to take a chance on it at the right price and then go for an extract.

Why would I do that?

It's a stainless model, so unlikely to be plundered for the gold case.
The finish of the movement matches the condition of the other parts of the watch, so unlikely to be replaced due to damage.
(even so, the original bridges could have been used)
If it was frankenised, why take out the movement and replace it with another (and that's the only scenario I can come up with).

Note that I'm not suggesting you follow my "temptation".

It would be interesting to see the caseback though.

While I appreciate the namecheck, it was @Peemacgee i think you meant, I hadn’t commented here. I don’t know enough about these to offer a view. I do think it’s a shame though if you are looking for a chronometer rated watch like a Connie if it doesn’t proudly display it in the movement even if it was legit to start with.

To @Peemacgee,

I humbly offer my reply, that being this ::facepalm1:: followed by :whipped:.

No offence taken 👍

I would love someone to present a bona fide 562 Connie as I like the idea of uncommon anomalies from Omega.
Even though @TexOmega had posted one, I don’t think anyone believed you could get a 168.004 with a 564 until I found one with papers and hang tag proving it correct.

Hm, I knew I had seen this watch before and it was at the watchoutforsale.com based in Sweden. They no longer have it online however. I started off looking at a Constellation 168.005 they had for sale, but after getting confirmation from the experts at OF I backed out of the deal. It was a redial but they would not admit it. It's a shame since they seem to have some nice watches too, but they don't live up to their motto about honest description of their watches...

They took it off their site after I told them about the movement not being chronometer ... but they gave an explanation and apologies .. I believe they are honest and fair though .. I did not buy that watch ! Thks for yr input !
