Hello. I recently acquired a C cased constellation, 168.027 with yellow gold cap and coin-edge bezel. IMG_2208.JPG
Can someone please tell me if the cap, bezel, and caseback emblem are 14K or 18K? I assume that the bezel is solid gold and not GF... correct?
    Thanks

    Yes, that's correct.

On gold capped model the bezel and medallion on back are 14K solid gold.

Good to know, thanks. Was cap always 14K?

An additional question- with WG coin-edged bezel model SS constellations like this 168.045: CIMG2267.JPG the bezel is represented as being 18K... is that correct? (Not a gold expert, but maybe WG is only available as 18K.) Thanks.

So it would be quite easily possible to wear right through the medallion as it is not really "solid" as I had imagined. But of course this simplifies the production process, as they are stamped from sheet, not cast or forged from the solid.

Yes the gold capped portions are in 14k .

About the WG coin-edged bezel model SS constellations 168.045:, I don't know much to answer (I don't collect those) but 14K white gold does exist

    Thanks again for the info.
Regarding the gold emblems... how are they fixed to the caseback?

You see that small and thin lip there

The medallion was put in place then they closed the lip ....making it a tad smaller and hold the medallion in place

Amazing that more medallions aren't lost over time...

AFIK bezels were 14K not 18K, unless of course its on an 18K case.
