I went and got my first connie, one of the c-case models, an ST 168017 SP.

As far as I can tell, everything seems correct and more or less well-preserved except for the crown and crystal. I would love to know the correct crown (and preferably its part number) so I can try to get one before giving it in for an overhaul. If anyone is feeling especially helpful, advice on suitable bracelets and endlinks is also appreciated.

Cousins lists the replacement crown for your stainless 168.017 as a 42529st..
Most of the c-case Constellations of which I've seen photos seem to have a brick pattern bracelet. Do a Google image search with your ref #.
You may be better off to have your watchmaker locate a proper crown for you based on the case reference, as opposed to finding one yourself.
I'd have a talk with your watchmaker and ask his/her opinion on the best way to proceed with your planned service.
Best wishes.. The C-case is one of my favorites.

I can see some scuffing on the rotor. It may have had/or has an issue with the rotor post or bearings. Worth getting that checked out.

Original finish of the case is still partially visible. It may have had a light polish at some stage, but the dial is nice. The cyclops crystal is probably a replacement, and I tend to like these models better with a plain crystal.

    Cheers

Many thanks to all of you for your help. I have acquired a replacement crown and hopefully will have the watch fixed up soon.
