Any one ever bought a rolex watch head first and then slowly decided they wanted to source the appropriate bracelet? How long did it take? Was it expensive?

Have done, it is possible, getting harder. Some references more difficult than others - what are you thinking?

Also, prepare yourself - the bracelet will be more expensive than you'd think, can be quite expensive.

It’s almost always better to buy a complete package. Bracelet are expensive and an alternative is to buy a package and the sell your head only.

With Rolex, I’m about the bracelets. I’d not buy one without an appropriate bracelet.

Can be a pain in the neck to get the right bracelet and endlinks. You may end up buying those separately as well.

that is how it is looking at the moment unfortunately. The reasoning when I purchased the 16570 in tritium dial was that, in order for the bracelet to fit right, I have to take out a permanent link to center the clasp properly. Luckily, its just so happens that I did add another explore 1 tritium dial with the appropriate bracelet. Just short the end links now.

You're not kidding about those end links 🙁

I have never let a bracelet get in the way of a purchase, Rolex or Omega. If patient, there will be plenty of opportunity to pick up the right bracelet on VRM or TRF specially for 80s/90s watches. For that reason, I usually stock up on bracelets and end links when I see good buying opportunity just in case ;-)

lastly, there are plenty of alternatives out there other than stock which compliment watches nicely. The attached 1675 is one of my favorite summer watches, the leather wears a lot nicer than SS oyster.

I did the opposite- I purchased an oyster bracelet from an eBay seller for my OPD I got head only. Struck up a conversation with the seller and he never wore the bracelet on his Airking (same bracelet and endlinks as the OPD) so was selling it. I told him if he ever wanted to get off his Airking, let me know. 4 months later I got an email from him- then I bought the Airking- watch matched back up with bracelet. Then I bought a jubilee for the OPD.

Well, this is one of my recent purchases. A 1803 WG without bracelet. Finding an original bracelet will be very difficult. Most of them are worn out. I will not be in the market for one, just satisfied with what I have.

Is that a white dial or just really light silver? Really love the 1803s especially with the minute track instead of numerals. Looks so much cleaner IMO. Great looking piece!

It’s not white but a warm silver/white appearance that’s really nice. These pictures may represent the dial better.
