Has anyone tried buying from The Omega Enthusiast? Care to share your experience, advice etc. I am interested in some of their pieces but price is a little bit on the high side. Also, by any chance are some of the watches redialed? It all looks NOS to me. Or maybe he is really good in acquiring NOS watches.

He got a Youtube channel too. Yes his prices are very high but what can you expect from a dealer, they have to make a living. But you can bargain down too i guess.

He has very nice pieces, mostly original, and I haven’t seen redials as far as I can remember (doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions). But as echoed above, very expensive. Pieces on OF seem to sell for about half his asking prices.

I’ve never bought from him but from what I’ve seen his listings are largely accurate.

You’re unlikely to get many members here saying they’d buy from him as he’s not catering for the collector market, he’s there for people who want a single vintage Omega, fully serviced without doing any research or due diligence themselves and are happy to pay for this.

I purchased a CK2505 jumbo from Omega Enthusiast about 18 months ago and have been very happy with the acquisition. Initial asking price was definitely high, but he was flexible and willing to negotiate. Would be willing to purchase from again (and pay the premium) if he had something unique in stock that would be difficult to source elsewhere.

I've never bought from him but I find he does have some very nice and interesting stock. If they are also serviced then I think depending on the watch the prices are not too OTT.

I have also watched quite a few of his YouTube clips and he comes over as genuinely passionate, informed and helpful with the tips and advice he offers.

If I was US based and a starting collector then I'd definately consider buying from him.

Last time I've checked he asked EUR 1600 for a SM 30. I thought that was a bit off (x4).

Let's take this geneve. A 300-400max watch. Asking $1250. He claims to be serviced but I have some doubts.

It looks like he is in Canada.

But indeed he has some nice watches. But they are all priced x 2 till 4. I understand when a dealer asks big money. Normally they have a shop and people working for them. But in this case it looks to be a web seller. If he sells high volumes near his asking prices I stop working today and start a vintage webshop. 😁

I'm talking from the perspective of a European based buyer, so whether USA or Canada it makes no difference to us regarding import duty.

But you said that you would consider buying from him if you lived in the US and he is in Canada, which is actually a different country. Do you know what import duties and/or or taxes apply when importing a watch from Canada to the US?

Well ... none actually. But did you know that? 😉

Well ... none actually. But did you know that? 😉

Well I should clearly have said NA instead of US, and yes I did know there was no import duty between Canada and the US

Sounds like a pretty good resource for when you're looking at something on eBay and wondering what it's supposed to look like.
