Broad Arrow Speedmaster

A friend has sent me a photo of a Speedmaster that he bought at a second hand store. My knowledge of Speedmasters is severely limited, but I have never seen that combination of hands, dial and bezel before. Is it just my limited knowledge or has a baton handset been replaced by broad arrow (assuming the dial, bezel and case are correct)? Unfortunately he hasn't yet come good with any more photos, so I can't show the caseback or movement. I have no idea what he paid for the watch.

Not going to say it’s a legit Speedmaster based on this photo alone, but it looks like someone swapped the broad arrow reissue 3594.50 hands onto a late ‘90s or 2000s era Speedmaster. Bracelet wouldn’t be right for that timeframe for the watch but then again I could even tell you if I believe that to be just an over polished 1171 bracelet.

If your friend sends you better photos maybe more accurate information could be shared.

Back in the late 90s, early 2000s, it was very easy to purchase Omega hands online and make this type of swap — at one point, I had a set and planned to do it myself, but I decided to sell the Speedmaster instead and so sold the hands.

This is the most likely explanation.

My friend was proud of and excited by his purchase and I don't really want to burst his bubble, after all it won't change his watch. But I've been lurking on this forum for too long and I'm starting to learn about what looks right and wanted to test my suspicion. I won't ask for more photos.
