Yes that is replacement value....

none of them are vintage.
None of the WATCHES, genius. The horns are, the guitars are, and the pistols are. DIscussed it with my agent in detail. You want to tell him he's incompetent, I would be happy to share his email address.

Once again, you are wrong.

Which state? Did you deal with a broker?

please note firearms and musical instruments at that value are different from Jewelry which has very specific language in it. Read my edits above for more info. Vintage watches can get into a lot of trouble here with your type of policy.

Again also please note your watches and all other items are below a value where it matters.

jewelry and glass, as well as money stores on-site have very very specific language in policies that make those items differ from most items.

I am done with you. You spout whatever nonsense you want.

Wisconsin, and a real AAA representative.

I am confident in my coverage. I care not for any of your "edits".

As I mentioned, I initially wanted to insure the Railmaster LE for retail, $6800. The underwriters wanted an appraisal at that level. I decided to not bother with that.

I have told my truth as best I know it. Don't like being accused.

$1,500 for a Turnbull 1911?? Yow! These were $5,000 last time I looked. 😲

For the 100th anniversary, Remington contracted with Turnbull to make a Remington-UMC marked 1911 of roughly 1917 pattern. These were sold with magazines, holster, lanyard, display case, yadda. Both my dad and I got one. They retailed for about $2500 but sold on clearance for $1400.

My dad regrets this decision and will sell his, if you want it.

This one is mine. I replaced the "meh" grips with more appropriate.

Wood Caliber bought unfinished and I put tung oil on.

how do you not understand I’m agreeing with you. I’m also telling you that AAA and almost all home policy providers do not offer agreed value.

they wanted an appraisal at the higher price as it’s a requirement for jewelry over 5k no matter what type of policy.

Look as I said the distinction doesn’t matter to you and your watches. It does matter to people with vintage jewelry.

by definition they are offering you the purchase price of the watch not a replacement. This is the definition of a replacement policy. You could easily go to Chubb via hodinkee and get 7.5k on the LE as an agreed value. In fact you might not even need an appraisal if you do it through hodinkee.

I’m not saying your wrong, you just need to be careful with the type of policy you have and the types of policy you have.

I have a State Farm personal articles policy. They required appraisals for each one of the watches I insured. Some are modern watches and some are vintage. For example, the appraisal on my Zenith A384 was $10,000 and they were fine with it. The value on the policy won’t change without another appraisal but I can always get another if the values change significantly down the road. If you had a vintage Rolex 5512 that appraised for $18,000, they would just give you the money minus the deductible. They won’t try and find a vintage 5512 to replace it. The watches are covered for theft, loss, or fire whether at my home or when I travel. I haven’t had to make any claims fortunately but so far I’m pleased.

Just giving an update. I went with Hodinkee. I have an appraisal and my AD strongly urged me to go with Jewelers Mutual.
Hodinkee was nearly overnight, no questions asked about my watch. Hopefully I won't need use it, it was expensive but I'll revisit this next year so see if I still think I need it.

It feels really good wearing this on my wrist right now, knowing that if someone takes it from me or I drop it, I'm covered.
