Breitling Navitimer question

For only €300 more, the cleaner dial one would be a no brainer, but depending on your budget, I would have kept looking for one with more attractive lume and less suspicious hands. And unless it comes with records of a recent movement service, it will likely require one, and I would try to find a good local watchmaker.

The bezel is meant to be used, so I would not avoid using it out of fear of dust. Rather, just be mindful of using it in dusty/moist environments. Good luck.

Just be sure to request any parts replaced by Breitling to be returned to you (e.g. the crown, or hands, in case they happen to be original). I would also be extremely surprised if there were no watchmakers in Paris or Germany that could work on a Venus 178. If you continue to ask around / search, I'm sure you'll find someone good.

sure, thank you for the advice ! i just think that the Breitling cats have access to spare parts that other do not. Obviously expensive, but you are right , worth looking around. Paris is a rip off place , so trust here . Germany - yes .

That's not necessarily true for vintage models like yours.

When Breitling closed in 1978, the company and its assets were essentially liquidated. And it's only a year later that Ernst Schneider, at the time Sicura's boss, bought the rights to the name and restarted production of Breitling-badged timepieces in his own factory. So I very much doubt that they had any parts for older models that had been made by what was for all intents and purposes a separate company.

I'm pretty sure that since then they have made huge efforts in restocking parts, especially now that they are fully embracing their heritage beyond the Navitimer models. But the fact remains that genuine period-specific parts for your watch are more likely to be found on the open market than at the brand's current headquarters.
