Bracelet Advice for 1962 Tudor 7934

Greetings All,

I bought a lovely 60s 34mm Tudor from a fellow member early last year, which came with a respectable contemporary Forstner rivet bracelet.

However, since the 18mm bracelet is not tapered it results in a broad 19mm clasp that rather overwhelms the feel of the watch.

I also have a 1978 34mm Rolex OP 1500, again courtesy of a fellow member, with the original 78350 bracelet with 557 end pieces. The bracelet tapers from the same 19mm lug width to a positively slender 14mm resulting in an equally slim 15mm clasp width. This results in beautifully balanced assembly that wears far more delicately on the wrist:

I've tried out the 78350 on the Tudor and I'm happy with the result but keen to hunt down an appropriate Tudor variant

Some research shows that this style of bracelet was available on 60s Tudors - more likely the folded 7835 version

Seems that both Rolex & Tudor used the 7835 reference. but there are significantly more Rolex versions out in the wild.

Does anyone know what reference bracelets are appropriate to my Tudor and in particular which end pieces I should aim to use?

Many thanks in advance.
Gareth

The lug width of the Tudor is 18mm? Check the lug width with a caliper, it may be between 18-19. The period correct bracelet should be a rivet bracelet but you can get a 7835 folded bracelet cheaper. I have a Tudor that has a 18.5ish lugs width and it has the original 7835. You may need to file the end links to fit the watch.

Depending on the model, lug width should be 19mm and you will need a Rolex 7835 folded link bracelet or 6635 rivet. (There a few models with 20mm lug width.) There are various end links. I had a 7909 on 7835 with 257 end links. Do you know the model number? I’d be happy to help.

Thanks both.

The lug width is 19mm - same as the 1500. The 7835+557 end links fits nicely.

The Tudor is a 7934 model from about 1962. I assume your 7909 was a mid fifties model?

So it seems the most appropriate bracelets for the model are the 7835 folded and the 6635 riveted. Searching up the 6635 indicates that there are both solid and expandable varieties. And judging by some of the pics on ebay the expandable ones seem less robust and end up dreadfully loose and in a sorry state. Also I can't find any Tudor varieties on e-bay I guess there were just far more Rolexes.

The various endlinks confuse me. Should there be a single "correct" item for the bracelet/watch combo or are there generally a few which are sufficiently similar to be interchangeable?

Cases, casebacks, crowns and bracelets were all Rolex marked until a bit later. So, Rolex ones are period correct. My 7909 was automatic and had a thicker case, manuals are slimmer so endlinks are variable. I’d look at previous sales of 7934 on Vintage Rolex Forum which included bracelets to give you some examples.

As noted above, Tudor watches generally came with Rolex bracelets. Are you certain that the lug width is 18mm on your watch, that would be unfortunate if true.

A 7205 rivet would be appropriate in that case.
