Looks like a late 80's or maybe early 90's model with a caliber 1120 inside.

These are very cool looking, I have yet to try one on, but at one point on my list. They made these in both automatic and quartz.

If Professional on dial, then quarts, if Chonometer on dial, the automatic.

Admit to it now......you know you want one!

Admitting the problem is the first step to the cure you know.

Think about it...... the fine hum of high tech electronics, the faint whiff of acid leaking from a battery...... the lovely wafer thin circuit boards

come on now, just one wafer thin circuit board....... it can't hurt.......

a.) watch is legit (at least what you see on the pics ) - and lets face it ... nobody fakes those ;-)

b.) it def. is quartz ... IIRC (read that on a german forum) of the pre-bond only 27.000 were automatics (1120s as mentioned), and a couple of millions were quartz. This is a 2nd generation (first gen. has mercedes hands and single foldover clasp.

    best, al

It exists in two sizes, this one is the mid-size version which is is the most common. The big size is only 39 mm. if I remember correct, so the mid-size is quite small. As this is a quite common watch, one should have the ambition to either find : a big size, first generation with thermocompensated mvt or an automatic. The gold on steel version has some charm too. To determine the size, if big quartz model, there a gap between the date and the minute track on the dial. The first quartz generation has a different case back.
It is my daily wearer for the beach or dangerous activities and it is very comfortable.
    Have a nice day.

I don't think the 1120 was ever used in the pre-Bond, only the 1111 and 1109.
The 1441 quartz movement in the earlier models can supposedly be regulated to <10 seconds per year.

Just one point thrown in: the 200m mid size is actually quite a bit bigger than the current ones. Numerically I think it's just 1mm (36 vs 37mm) but the 200 is also quite a bit flatter and thus looks broader compared to the SMP 300... I had a pic with 3 generations of mid sizes one next to the other I hope I find it again

Here's a better one. .. sorry for all those posts but I'm on my phone...
    CAM02346.jpg

Actually the pre-bond killed the SMP 300s for me... they just don't look "right" next to the pre 200 which is an all time classic. (Hands/ He-valve/bracelet) ...

...both 300s have been sold since;)

    Cheers
