I am thinking about selling a speedy 2998 and not sure which forum to list it on to get the best price.
I am a very infrequent seller, and have never sold anything on ebay. Would ebay give me a better chance than listing it here or on chronotrader?

Also, my understanding is that an ebay auction listing is a better choice than a BIN listing.
But, with an auction, is it a good idea to list a fairly high minimum price, or a real low minimum?
I am a lttle nervous about listing a very low minimum.

I have purposely left out pics because I don't want this seen as a listing.

    Any help is appreciated!

I think if you have enough posts you can sell it here under private watch sales.

Just my experience that may help you. I was in a similar position 0 feedback as a seller anywhere bc I don't often sell, only f2f where I live, and am relatively new to collecting. Anyway I listed an Omega chronometre here and got 0 interest. A few weeks later I listed it on ebay as a BIN for the same price and sold it in 2 days with multiple offers. This Forum is great because of the trust between buyer and seller, and the member- hawks who give their time and knowledge to police sellers and coach buyers. But the sheer reach of Ebay is incomporable. That reach will give you better chances to reach your price imo.

You can list it here, and if you get bites, then great. If not, then you can move onto Ebay. It's low risk to list here.

Bottom line .... safe to sell here especially to members invested in the hobby and these forums. Safety comes at a price however as collectors here will be more critical of condition issues, have greater market / brand knowledge and tougher negotiators and will be looking for investment upside.

I would make one change to that: "Safe to buy here" should become this forum's official slogan.

I would challel our mods here to say that the OF purpose is first and foremost community and knowledge sharing not buying and selling. That said “Safe to buy and sell here” is very true.

I am sure there are many OF members who would appreciate the option to buy your 2998 speedy. Regarding price : ask what you want. If you do get it sold here (vs same price on eBay), then you will save some %, as you wont have to pay eBay or Paypal fees.

When you say 2998, do you mean mega money late 1950s original version or more recent LE?

On Ebay? That's ridiculous, especially given how much junk and counterfeit goods gets sold on Ebay.

    Ok, time for some pics!

List here first. There's a lot of eyes here - both friends and, um.. Non-friends? - Who will see the watch.
