You’re right it’s delayed to Q3 I didn’t notice at first.

It should perform exceptionally well on lower end hardware given its running on the same glacier engine as the Hitman series, so hopefully it’s still decent on Switch 2.

The gameplay style of a Bond game is so close to Hitman anyway that it feels like it would be a good fit, sort of like George R R Martin bringing the Elden Ring IP to the right people in Miyazaki’s FromSoftware.

It feels like they made the best developer choice they could since Rare

I remember as a kid playing it after coming from Wolfenstein 3D, Doom & Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold
I remember downloading Doom from a local BBS with the modem on my parents computer. Also remember having a friend whose older brother went to the local college. He took us one weekend to the school computer lab to play Descent. It was one of the first networked multiplayer 6DoF shooters I ever played. Good times.

I'm overall a big fan of IO Interactive, the long time Hitman developer who are tackling this project. They've had a bumpy ride over the years having lost their independence and almost getting scrapped by Square Enix. They managed to buy themselves back into independence and retain the Hitman franchise, of which the latest trilogy from 2016-today is their magnum opus. All three games have been combined into one mega game with all content playable through one interface on the latest engine, it's amazing. It is unfortunately online only despite being single player, but there are already community tools to support local play for when IOI one day switches the servers off so it's not such a big deal.

However... First Light looks to add a lot of gameplay elements the Glacier engine never supported in Hitman. Hitman is a puzzle game disguised as an action game, whereas First Light leans a lot more into pure action and has some stuff like big car chases the engine couldn't previously accommodate. They're leaving the reviewer access and embargo very close to release, which is sometimes a sign of trouble brewing.

Also, this is just a personal belief thing but I refuse to buy games with Denuvo DRM, which they've unfortunately added to this. Some developers remove it after the initial purchase period, hopefully IOI is one of them so I can buy it later on.

Reviews are starting to come out for this game. Pleased to see the initial reviews suggest I was wrong to doubt them.
I watched the walk through. Wonder if this is my opportunity to get back into gaming. Last big game I played was Red Dead Redemption on PS2, which I completed the night before my first kid was born. Then work and family took over for a couple decades.

Is this a flimsy enough pretext to buy myself a PS5? 😉

I prefer playing games on a PC, but I've kept my PS5 just for the upcoming GTA6 release. If not for that I'd have sold it by now, I don't use it enough.

If you like stealth gameplay, Metal Gear Solid Delta is pretty incredible.

I do recall preferring a PC because I liked mouse and keyboard for 6DoF first person shooters. But hear good RAM is hard to come by at the moment. 🤔

Just saw this scene with Bond getting issued the watch, not sure what goes in the bin but it’s well done

Yeah, that's pretty great. Also, there's seven different watches there so I guess Omega's Seamaster pipeline for the next decade is all sorted. 😜

It does a better job of marketing Omega as a superior watch than the Casino Royale scene, which I always felt counterintuitively marketed Rolex better as the standard by which Omega measures itself. Which is 100% true, but I wouldn't think they'd want to advertise it to the world. 😜

No spoilers...but the Omega doesn't go in the bin of course. And you get to chose a new watch. Nice personal touch to this game and makes me want to grab my PO Chrono.

The one in the middle is the Goldfinger NATO. Omega don't sell that, do they? Interesting... I wonder if that will be released then.

FWIW (and small spoilers here), while you do get to choose your first watch, you lose it in the first mission. When a replacement watch is provided by Q, you no longer get a choice and it is the one that is in all the ads and that Omega is selling now.

I’m enjoying the game so far - the stealth and Hitman-like sections are fun, but the hand-to-hand combat is janky at best, IMO. And the gadgets are fun.

Looking at the caseback details...I'm thinking it's a "Sub"...
That would be funny if that was their intent. Cheeky. 🏴‍☠️

Hmm...interesting you noticed that. I wonder if you chose that one would you get a different result or trophy?

Только что посмотрел сцену, где Бонду выдают часы, не знаю, что выбросить в мусорное ведро, но снято отлично.

Rolex is out

Let it be known that I called this early! Omega has now listed the Goldfinger NATO on their site. Currently listed but unavailable with a wish list link.

EDIT: Something to think about for Peter Blake owners... I think this would be a killer combo, personally. The product listing page with all the NATOs indicates it should be available in both 19-20mm and 20-21mm, but currently only the 20-21mm size can be wish listed.

A Peter Blake looks good on any strap, but in my opinion a black Nato is the way to go.
