    Damn. They bombed the place...

During an attempt to break into a watch shop on the Singel, an explosive was used last night. The suspects did not finally arrive and left, probably on a three-wheeled scooter. According to a police spokesperson, they wore helmets with devils.

Around 4.15 a lot of local residents were sitting upright in bed because they had heard the loud bang. The police subsequently received several reports.

The perpetrators have mounted the explosive under a window and let it go. The window was shattered but behind it was a roller shutter, so the perpetrators were unable to enter. The Explosives Reconnaissance Team (TEV) of the police and the EOD were on site for investigation.

Former ISIS trying to put their “skills” to civilian use? Clearly not the sharpest tools in the shed.

Wow, I visited once and the security seemed impressive even when it was open. Over ambitious thieves.

Sounds like a resounding endorsement for the metal rolling shutters!

    “explosion proof!”

Really crazy! Is there an actual increase of Robberies of Watches in the last years or did the phenomenon became more advertised?

They are actually floating in the canal facing the window, just nobody looked yet :whistling:

But seriously, sorry for the owners. Visited the shop twice, very nice staff and a nice selection of watches.

Our minds can employ heuristic profiling, where we start to see exaggerated patterns. Or, maybe there has been an increase in criminals using explosives to steel vintage Heuers ::rimshot::

    That's not good.
Only recently watched a decent Vice programme about Amsterdam Vintage Watches so spooky to see this happen.

This is scary. To think someone wanted to break in so badly that they resorted to explosives is absurd. From the pic, it doesn't look like they got in, but I will be looking for more details.

Like I've said before, the days of non-Rolex watches flying under the radar are over. Thieves now want anything you put on your wrist.

Amsterdam Watch Co also has a large crack in its front shatterproof window - I haven't been around elsewhere but it seems that Amsterdam's watch stores are being targeted by some fairly motivated douches.
