Another one of those posts...

I just wanted to drop this here and see if anyone can help me out. Is there any signs of a fake? I checked through a few dozen photos to take a look myself.

It comes with Box and Papers so I would know more after purchasing.

Also does anyone know if I could take this into a Blancpain Boutique to have them look it over?
I actually did this with a Rolex GMT at the Rolex service center. I asked them for a service quote which basically allowed me to get an authentication from Rolex which I was happy with.

This would be purchased from Chrono24 so I would have some buyer protection.

I checked a few Chinese fakes. Their serial numbers on the back are "8591". If you are really considering this watch, much better and MORE pics will be needed.

I'll ask for them. The seller isn't that responsive.
I know it's a red flag. I'll update as soon as I have more information

At the price this will be selling for, I’d only buy from a respected dealer or in person so I could wind the movement, check the bezel action, inspect the strap, etc. Based only on the pics supplied, I’d pass.

Good luck!

2 concerns:

1- ANTIMAGNETIC on case back looks sloppy.
2- Crystal looks cloudy.
(Could be because to terrible photos)

Font looks good. Everything lined up where they should. Case and crown look good. I don't see any major red flag, except for the fact that every single photo is blurry. Agreed with Donn above. At this price point, at least provide half decent photos.

My Barakuda below for fonts check.

Edit: did a little more digging. It’s genuine. It comes w box and papers. I would ask for better photos of 2 points above. Cloudy crystal is a solid no.

it honestly baffles me when I see terrible pictures for luxury pieces. Surely one could at least put a modicum of effort in at least getting in-focus pictures before listing? Sorry I can't help with the authentication but it's just an observation I'd associate with an unmotivated seller.

There's a mall in Cebu City Philippines that sells high quality knock offs of pretty much all the top brands, Blancpain included. All come with very convincing boxes and paperwork.

If it’s a super rep from Cebu, with docs and OEM box, then I give up.

but judging from these terrible photos, everything looks correct (without opening up the hood).

the cloudy crystal and slightly off text on case back need a closer look.

although I’m surprised seller didn’t include photo of box and paper. The OEM Fifty Fathoms box is rather unique/cool.

I don't think dealers are willing to authenticate pieces as it is really risky business. And fakes are getting better and better.

Maybe if they have a watchmaker they can open the case and match the movement to the case number and model. But if it's just sales I doubt they will have access to this info.

If they don't have a watchmaker to check, they will probably have to send the watch to a service centre or Blancpain in Switzerland.

Best to take most any watch to a seasoned watchmaker and let him/her take a look. They usually have seen it all and much more so than retailers. However I would never ever trust boxes and papers as any type of stand-alone proof.

I'm going to hard pass on this. The seller has not responded about getting new photos.
For now, I'm passing.

I think this is a good call. Best to be patient for the price these cost.

Bought a Tissot with box and papers earlier this year, box and papers were genuine but the watch was fake.
A definite pass on any doubtful watches esp with stupid photos.
