Just got it home after auction. Perfect donor - without any feelings of guilt. Case will get tender and careful attention - saving edges and bevels. A new original crown of course. Hour and minute hand will be polished and get new lume. Seconds hand beyond saving but new is available. Movement has got its fair share of humidity (which was no surprise looking at dial and hands) but nothing serious and it will turn out fine after some thoughtful care by my trusted watchmaker. And a black dial...
I will flaunt it like crazy - I promise! I have had a dream of a stainless 168.005 with a flawless black dial since the first time I visited Desmonds blog and "saw the light". It has been a long journey and along the way I have picked up some very nice Connies - but this has been the goal all the time.
No, just for fun. It happened to lie there (dead) and I thought - "what the heck - I will leave it there".
This old project is closing in also. Left the case and dial at my watchmaker last week. He has the movement serviced already.
