It is always ironic to me when goods get shipped back to the country where it was made because people overseas can afford to import the goods, pay retail, and then pay to ship them back, and the people there in the country cannot easily afford and that is without export/ import taxes being added.

There is a lot of irony in capitalism.

It is related to the people who do the work being able to enjoy the fruits of their labor, which was the point I thought you were making?

Don't wish to derail the thread. The economy needs our help.

Different countries and pretty sure there isn't a system of capitalism in China.

Don't worry, we are doing our capitalistic best to keep the economy going at my house. There is no shortage of goods from all around the world arriving on the doorstep, and not shortage of services sources from the same local people we have used for years/ decades.

I could make a fortune if there was a market for reselling empty cardboard boxes.

Couple years ago went to Beijing and we were shocked by all the Porsches, Rangerovers, Bentleys and Teslas. Must be be saving a bunch on all free stuff Walrus is sending them.

That’s why Aussies just say G,day

That's a micro aggression because you just assume it's a "good day" without any regard to my feelings or whether I'M having a good day!...sigh*

Naturally, I'm joking. But you see what I'm getting at

Gday is short for “Good day to yo” so a Hi, Hello

Basically I don’t really care if your having a good or bad day and feelings well most Australians like to leave them in the back of the Ute when out and about. I’m wishing you a good day with a friendly greeting.

We have another word that fits the bill for a “Micro aggression” that works well 😉

Years ago when I traveled on business, I got the impression that pretty much everyone in Asia who could went to Singapore to by things made in their own countries. Seeing Japanese buying cameras and electronics to take back home seemed crazy at first.

30 odd years ago Singapore or Hong Kong were the places to go to buy watches, electrical or technology type gear.
Last few trips to Singapore there is nothing I could buy any price difference to locally
Even an IPad in Dubai was the same as the local store back home ( to the dollar )
Duty free is barely what it used to be........

do they still block FaceTime on portable Apple kit in Dubai? (iPhone, iPad, laptops)
I remember having to buy my iPhone in Dubai airport and ask for the European version (which cost more then the UAE version but still significantly cheaper than back in the UK)

The sales in January are still the big thing in Dubai - and it’s amazing to see the airport full of lines of folks with huge television boxes in their luggage pile.

Not sure, but I did buy in 2013 (IIRC I made sure it was the US/UK version)

Skype was also blocked for a long time - until they realised that they were selling themselves as an international business hub but companies based there couldn’t do video conferences with their home bases.

Folks say it’s about security but actually it’s about foreign nationals using the two state owned mobile networks to phone home.

So, I looked at the Seiko watches for sale on the Macy's website.

What do you think of this Automatic Prospex Diver PADI watch (SRPA21) for the price of $352?

First, is it a good Seiko model to buy?
And then, is the price at a decent discount for a SRPA21?

I like the blue & red colors and that it is an Automatic movement.
The only other Seiko I own is a SKX007.

Edit: I found this write-up on the SRPA21 watch. Seems to be an interesting model. https://deployant.com/review-seiko-padi-automatic-diver-srpa21/
