Although there is nothing wrong with a good black redial constellation, but you have to know what you are buying and paying for.
Of course original is best and I prefere it after many years of collecting.

In my experience with different types of products, I will say that the original ones are ALWAYS better in every single way.

After I have collected a total of 6 pie-pans, including a black dial one, I believe the OP is right. My black pie-pan was from ebay. The seller was honest that previous buyer returned because of the doubtful authenticity of the the dial. I bought it anyway at a little discount just because I am already a sucker for 500 series constellation, and cannot find a black dial yet, considering it is likely an already repainted one.
