    Good morning OF!

I've been casually searching for a birth year watch. I do not have very specific criteria and I am open to many options.
    Only real specifications would be:
-Under $1000(the lower the better :D)
-Less than 42mm with some possibility exceptions (I have small wrists)
    -Preferably Automatic but not required

Bonus points if serial can be dated to June 1994:thumbsup:

No real rush for it, if you have something/find something feel free to PM me.

    Thank guys!

    -Jake

    Jake,

Why don't you push your budget slightly higher and buy yourself an Omega Speedmaster ref 345.0808 or 3592.5000. It is a special apollo XI series with transparent case back.

I am sure you will not regret it...

    Hi Jake @Jwit

Whenever I type "Jake " a cerebro-spinal reflex occurs & my mind starts thinking about this guy[IMG]I remembered you pressed the " like " button as a sign of approval when i was in the midst of buying my very own 1st Speedy so now I'm determine to help you in whatever way possible [emoji41] It's the least i could do to show my appreciation !
Feast your eyes & enjoy the photos 1st. I'll send you more infos in a while[IMG][IMG][IMG]Can you see the tiny printed serial number at the bottom of the dial?[IMG][IMG]

    Seiko Vintage Divers Series 1988-1996
    Watch Movement Number : 7002
    Watch Serial Number : 44■■■■
    Production Date : April 1994

Now YOU do the Maths & find the Seiko Pepsi 7002 dial closest to June 1994

    I'll show you another variant[IMG]Series 7002 - 70■■ dated June 1996 , well at least I got the month right [emoji1]

Holy shit I'm old. :( I was a decade out of high school then.

You should be able to find the older Seamaster Professionals in your price range.

As noted a Seiko will be the easiest. In fact there are plenty of serial number calculators on the net that will give you month and year of production.

It might be stretching the limit, but I've seen them for $950 - $1200 in decent condition.

You could certainly get the basic versions for under $1000. There's been a few times I took long looks at blue and silver dialed automatic versions like this for $600 - $800.

WOW thanks for everyone chiming in so soon! I may have to double up on the birth year watches because I'm liking what everyone is putting on the table. I think I'm going to have to pick up some overtime shifts:whistling:

Inspired by @meganfox17 I went looking for my birth year seiko. Managed to find this on eBay last night and had a best offer accepted. It is a little beat up, but thanks to @Foo2rama for giving us the heads up about the serial date calculators I was able to find out it is from December 1982 - just like me :)

Love the grey on the hands, and that lollipop second hand too (who needs a 2998 anyway ;) )

Anyway - sorry to the OP for highjacking his thread a bit - but here she is

Never underestimate the Seiko Megan. One of my favourites after Omega. Well designed, bullet proof, attractive, and with a history to almost equal the older Swiss houses.

Now if I could find one from 1905 I'd have my perfect birth year watch :D.

    Hey @Jwit a.k.a Indiana Jake
    Hi Everyone[emoji137]
Once a Upon a Time , a long long time ago in1992 when half the forum readers were young adults, newly grads, newly weds, others still in diapers , there lived a mighty watch[IMG]Now when Young Indiana Jake was born[IMG]Seiko produced this magical rare coloured dial almost similar to the Panerai[IMG]This much sought after Seiko "Ark" then disappeared from the eyes of mortal beings ,to be hidden secretly away by goblins & dwarfs[IMG]Now It's the quest of One Man, Indiana Jake in search for the gospel truth , a journey into the Unknown fraught with danger & deception[IMG]Theme song from the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark"
