Birth Year Education Desired...

Not ready to purchase currently but after I recover from a year of too many purchases (one of which is still out there in the shipping wilds of "Who Knows Where?" between Japan and the States) I am thinking I am going to step into the land of Vintage Omega and track down a birth year watch for myself.

So, I am ancient (or at least ancient feeling) at 59 years eldered and was dropped from my mom's nether regions in 1963 (sad sidebar: precisely two months before JFK was assassinated). I recently saw a YT video featuring a Genta designed 1963 Seamaster with a date complication, champagne'esqe dial, automatic movement, BoR bracelet... and I must say I was quite smitten.

Would any of you folks chime in on some other Omega offerings, any of their lines: Constellation, Seamaster, doesn't matter as I want to learn more, that filled out the year 1963?

I am all ears (when I can hear that is).

Some good looking Omegas were cataloged in '63.

I was in the second grade in Fort Worth, Texas, awaiting my turn in the drinking fountain line in the school's hall after coming in from afternoon recess on the playground, about 2:30 PM on that pleasant sunny afternoon November 22nd of 1963, 30 miles away from Dallas and that fateful event.

I overheard two teachers, Mrs. Dwyer and my teacher, Mrs Messer, who were standing behind me and whispering about the assassination.

I would certainly give 39 pounds for a new Seamaster 300! At that time I probably had near that amount in US dollars stuffed in my piggiy bank (which was actually a brown turtle with "Florida" written in gold on its side, a souvenir from a vacation trip).

I wouldn't have known an Omega watch then if I had dropped it on my own silly big toe.

I’m going to throw an alternate option out here, I’ve got a partially written article on this watch so I won’t go into all the details right now but its a modern watch, reference 516.53.25.00.02.001 and may be rather fitting as it is the Omega tribute watch released in 2009 to the Omega JFK wore.

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-au/watch-omega-specialities-jfk-commemorative-piece-51653250002001

Its a very rarely seen piece limited to 261 units, and something almost nobody has.

Here are photos of the Omega watch gifted to JFK from Grant Stockdale a fellow Senator and friend, in 1960 which he wore at the inauguration, which I took at the Omega museum in Biel/Bienne in August. So this would be earlier reference than OP birth year 1963. It was apparently Jackie’s favorite watch there is a letter to Grant Stockdale in the museum display from her

If you can get to the Omega Museum it is really special- about 1 hour train ride from Zurich to Biel you can combine with scenic boat ride on the lake.

Perhaps, but between a marriage to an RN who can be rather "titchy and spicy", a 23 year old nursing school daughter who dislikes almost everything in life and me having a penchant for worry... I'm closer to 159 years old.

In that case, I'm deceased.

You might like to browse the offerings of a well known Omega dealer on his website omegaenthusiastltd.com there are at least half dozen nice 1963 Omega Seamasters and Constellations listed there with good photos. I have never dealt with him and he has reputation for somewhat high prices, but you can see some nice examples to focus your search.
But remember the warning that one of the senior OF moderators often says (I paraphrase);

You can have 2 of the following 3:
1. A watch in good condition
2. A watch at a good price
3. A watch right now

Happy hunting!
