What'cha wearing? What case size do you prefer?

I am new here, and essentially have kind of taken to the Speedmaster, and have recently hit a milestone career wise that I think I'm going to celebrate with another watch.

I bought the Tag in the pic after I landed a DoD contracting job when I left the military in 2005. She still keeps great time, and when I think about what it represents, it does bring a smile to my face.

So with that in mind, hitting a new milestone, and it being 14 years later, I figure I can splurge a bit!

Now, to the title of the tread, I'm a big guy, at 6'4" 290lbs. Here's what my 42mm Tag look like on my wrist. To commemorate I have a few in the running, look to mark my milestone with a something that packs a bit of a horological punch too..

    Speedy Tuesday 1
    Grey Side
Speedy moonphase black face with bracelet

BUT I'm open to interesting ideas as well..

    Welcome!

How about a rolex explorer 2? It's 42mm and wears a bit bigger because of the dial design. Here is pic next to a Speedie Broad arrow: 20180825_141253.jpg

    Amiriqbal-

I've really never thought about Rolex... it was always "small". Even at the I was buying my Tag, I thought about buying a submariner, and just didn't because it was too small for my wrist. I fell in love with the band of the Link, and I'm also a chrono fan... so there it was. lol

I do like the white face though.. I'd have to give see what those are going for these days considering how all things Rolex are bananas and blown out!

The explorer 216570 is one of the few bigger rolex models at 42mm, partly why I chose it. Plus one of the few SS models which is (relatively) easy to get hold of

Honestly, I think it's a total non-issue that you shouldn't worry about in connection with your next choice of watch. Large watches on tiny wrists look absolutely ridiculous, and (IMO) the more expensive the watch, the more pathetic they make their wearers look. There's no comparable issue if you have a large wrist, at least not with any of the watches you're considering. You'd have to find a pretty tiny watch to make it anywhere near as noticeable as a ridiculously oversized watch on a skinny wrist, which (to me) is immediately obvious and laughable, even from across a large room. Conversely, I can't ever remember seeing a large-wristed guy and thinking that his watch was "too small" for him. I'd suggest just picking whichever one you like for any and every reason other than your wrist size.

Maybe a Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M GMT could fit you well. It's really a big piece.

With that wrist you can easely wear a Panerai 44mm, 47mm or a Rolex seadweller (deepsea or the newly released with red letters)

I have an 8 inch wrist and wear everything from the Omega CK to a 47mm Panerai. Admittedly, the CK looks a bit small on me but with a NATO it bulks it up a bit and I'm happy with the look. I think my personal favorite sizing is 44-45mm case.

The GSOTM and Speedy Moonphase you're looking at are great options at 44mm. You could also look at the 45mm PO line. Lots of choices with 44 and 47mm Panerai. The AP ROO line at 44mm also looks and feels great on the wrist. JLC also makes a great ceramic chrono in either 44mm or 46mm.

Any particular features you want in your soon to be new watch? Chrono, diver, GMT, or price point?

My wrist is fairly large at 22Cm or 8.5" and my
Seamaster Professional Co-Axial Ref. 212.30.41.20.03.001 fits well, it's 42mm case dia.

Paneri 47mm wear surprisingly smaller then you would think.

My wrists are 20cm, and over time, I've just stopped worrying about "too small" watches. There is too much vintage awesomeness I'd have to ignore otherwise. I'll happily wear anything down to 38mm today.

    These for example:

And remember... back in the days of small watches, tall guys wore them anyway. Like this 2 meter chap:

As far as price point, I think I'd be looking at keeping things around 8K USD. If I can find something I like for less AWESOME!! I tend to gravitate towards chrono's and divers. I have a blue faced watch now... I do still like it, and I do still find myself drawn in that direction, I am open to most anything.

I like that tri color El Primero.. and I think the hacking 10th and 100th is pretty neat.. So.. I also have to admit, I am fascinated by that type of stuff. lol

I do like some of the vintage watches, but man... them sizes... lol

I think that watch is AWESOME!!

I couldn't agree more with the vintage stuff, again.. it's been like a size thing, maybe it's a place on my watch collecting path at the moment? I liken it to my racing stuff... what I thought was "cool" or "neat" when I first started is COMPLETELY different what I find worth the time now. lol

One I thought was kind of cool too was the moon to mars speedmaster

Another one I thought was out there but cool was the 3210.52.00

Like Bill, I wear all sorts of sizes. I bought this watch for about $30 because I liked the art deco style numbers aussie-emoticon.gif
    It's 31 mm case
