Bezel Separation?

Hello Omega Forums,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer. I'm currently looking to purchase a 1978 Speedy, its definitely quite the used watch, but what concerns me is what looks to be a separating bezel, and what looks like gunk and potentiallly corrosion (YIKES!) underneath the bezel. See picture please! This extends from below 6'o'clock and up next to 3 and 9- half the dial. Interestingly I've been looking online and checking out vintage 145.022's and it seems quite common!

Any thoughts? Abandon ship asap or go ahead and buy? Its a great price!

A good cleaning might make a difference....
With " normal every-day " use bezel separation on an Omega Speedmaster is very rare. I have worn mine since 1994 and never experienced it.
Spaceflight-wise, NASA photographs show that the bezels came loose and the astronauts never bothered to add it on a gain, as a Tachymètre is useless in aviation/spaceflight. Then again, they also wore their Speedmaster during water egress and jungle survival training.
That being sad, of the approx first 100 Speedies delivered to NASA, we know of only 4 that lost the bezel:
Slayton & Schirra (personal CK2998), Borman, Lovell and on the Gold BA145.022-69 as the Gold case was softer then the aluminum bezel.

FWIW I just bought one with very similar photo appearance of bezel. Owner did simple wipe and it was all ok just dirt. Hope yours is ok! Ask seller to gently wipe it and see?
