Getting rather frustrated with this
After getting lumbered with a fake Hydroconquest I reported scores of the same and rarely has anything happened.
A poster on WuS reported the seller who scammed me and he got shut down but came back under another name only to be shut down again.

I think it's a good deed you're doing here but at the same time perhaps there's a limit for what you can actually do for people with the intellectual capacity that makes them throw that kind of money at 0 feedback account...

Luckily for them, there's no watch to be gotten so they'll get their money back. It's infinitely worse with fakes because ebay and paypal (being the typical robotic american non-customer service companies that have plagued the world since the invention of internet) will demand that you send the item back as "not as described" before you get your scrilla back. This, of course, is something you can't do because shipping counterfeits is illegal so good luck to you if you get caught doing it.

Perhaps somewhat off topic but the point being, they'll get their cash back.

Well I don’t like to excuse any scammers but at least these people have an “excuse”. I bought a couple vostoks of my old contact in Ukraine he was a seller on esty and eBay, I do kinda hope at least one arrives but I’m not expecting it to. Again I’m not condoning or excusing scams but these people are living in a nightmare which I can’t begin to comprehend I imagine it brings out extreme desperation.


Dick Winters' quote about war bringing out the best and worst in people was quite apt i thought, there are some who see it as an opportunity to help others in their time of dire need, and then there are the others who see it as an opportunity to profiteer using the unrest and strife as a cover, these types exist everywhere unfortunately and know exactly how to play on the western hand-wringing guilt complex

Yep, and yet there are still muppets bidding on it thinking they’re the smart ones who have spotted a rare bargain that slipped through the cracks because they’re such a shrewd online buyer. Even if the people bidding on these are not the brightest, it still annoys the hell out of me to see people profit off them and a month from now there’s a chance that buyer posts it here going “I got a really great deal on this, is it fake?”

If you look back (and now of course) how much money US companies make off war it’s stunning. Ford during WW2 supplying both sides. The list goes on and on. For me it was nothing about any kind of western guilt it was trying to reach out to someone I knew in Ukraine and hoping I can help. I find it odd that what caused the issue in Sri Lanka seems to get buried a bit but regardless i don’t know if there has been a period on earth since humans arrived that there hasn’t been a war or “police action” somewhere. We don’t seem very good at getting along. Maybe someday we will get it down.
