If you like vintage chronographs I recommend this..
.
Looks good ! Thanks !
I believe I will like this one.

For the record, I did order some books some I found interesting some I regret to have ordered in the first place :
This one I liked, even if not perfect, it gives a brief overview of the different brands (alphabetically ordered) & models from the past :

The following one is from the same author, but only focusing on some new models, limited history then. No interest for me at all. Looks more like a catalog to me.

So anyway, I'll definitely have a look at Chasing time. And I believe I'll "risk" it and order Manufacturing Time. Thanks @STANDY & @riimar !

Any chance you could post the table of contents for this? I might be interested in getting a copy but I'd like to know what's in it.

Believe it or not, but there is no table of contents in this book. 😉
Chasing Time is a very nice book with a real crossover of watches from both famous and many ‚under the radar’ brands.

Good review of Chasing Time:

And some more recommendations in-house:

There is no good introduction in the beginning.
Aquastar, lemania, universal geneve, rolex, omega, heuer, hamilton, zenith and more.
Pictures of watch, bracelet and movement.
No deep diving into every watch, mostly short introduction. The pictures might be good for reference.

Omega seamaster 120, 300 and 4 different speedys.
Overall a good book for the price, comparing to others.
There's a seamaster300 in the book which is not a chronograph. Could be more articles of seamaster chronographs in my opinion.
So if you're only interested in Omega this is not the book for you.

@zoohannover @riimar thanks for the info. It does look like a nicely put-together book and the price is right. My favorite books are those that show me rare pieces I'd never seen before or didn't know existed - and that I could conceivably even try to hunt down for my own collection. Here are a few in my library:

Great thread.

Could someone please advise if the compendium (2019) is the updated and expanded version of the 2015 book? Description of the Compendium seems to imply yes.

thx

In addition to many other great allready mentioned books, I recommend this one. "Time for a change- Discovering Vintage Enicar. " So far the only book about Enicar. Focus is more on the brand History and brand marketing than having a technical look on every single watch.
